House Rules
Welcome To Our Home!
Welcome to our home. We hope that you enjoy your visit and the beautiful Lake Tahoe area! We have attempted to create an atmosphere that provides activities and relaxation for everyone at every age. Hopefully this guide is helpful during your stay. Please leave comments or recommendations at the end of this guide so we can continue to improve.
You will love the area and the neighborhood that is called Tahoe Paradise in the town in Meyers. We are a suburb of South Lake Tahoe – only 10 minutes from shops but still in deep nature. Please visit our neighborhood grocery store, coffee shop, and restaurants in Meyers and much more in the larger town of South Lake Tahoe. We have created a list of our favorites to get you started (see the last section in this packet)
- Neighbors and noise: The neighbors are our friends, so please show respect and do not create outside noise that our neighbors can hear.
- No parties and no music outside.
- No noise outside after dark – if your group is making noise, please move inside.
- Bears and coyotes visit the neighborhood nightly. They will avoid people but are attracted by food. Do not leave food on the deck overnight (lock all porch and deck windows at night). DO NOT LEAVE ANY FOOD OUTSIDE OR IN CAR as bears will tear open your car to get at the food.
- Shoes: Please keep the outdoors, outside, by leaving your shoes at the front door. This also ensures the house stays clean for your stay.
- Towels: Each room has a complete set of towels. Spa/beach towels for each guest can be found in the downstairs purple bathroom/steam room.

Outdoors
Deck & Grill
Back Deck
- The back Deck is a great spot to relax with a view of Freel Peak (over 10,000’) it’s the highest in Tahoe!
- The back is fenced and has an electric wire to keep bears out. Please do not open gates.
- Enjoy the woods and quiet. Please respect the quiet and neighbors as sound carries.
- Fire is a serious hazard in the woods. Please no fires, smoking or candles outside except the grill.
- Porch lights are at each door and the string lights are controlled by a remote at the kitchen slider.
- The leaf blower is a quick way to clear the deck of pine needles. The charger is in the Den.
- Boats and stuff in back are NOT for renters use.
Grill
- You will enjoy this grill. It is big and heats fast. There is a button to light the grill but if this is not working please use the fire starter lighters in the kitchen drawers.
- Propane tank is in the right compartment. Please turn the tank valve on and off after use for extra protection.
- Extra propane tanks are located in a metal cabinet on the deck. If more propane is needed please contact the rental agency.
- Cleaning service cleans grill between renters (please contact manager if the grill is not clean).
- make sure to bring all food inside afterwards so bears do not come to the house.
Outdoor Fire pit / Campfire Area
- NO FIRES. The fire pit is closed due to County Ordinance prohibiting outside fires. In 2021 the entire town of South Lake Tahoe was evacuated and the area of Meyers almost burned to the ground. This is the fire that burned the trees at Echo Pass and the areas around Tahoe Paradise. Fire risk is a BIG DEAL and neighbors will FREAK OUT if fire is outside.
- Please do use the Corn Hole Game that is in this area.
Hot Tub/Spa
- For health and safety: do not use alone, kids use only with adults.
- The spa should be set to 103 degrees, please do not adjust temp.
- Spa maintenance company is paid to clean before every rental – if the spa needs service, please text the rental company.
- Lifting the Lid – Fold the front-half over the back-half and then lift the folded cover towards the wall (this is easiest from inside the tub). CLOSE LID WHEN DONE
- Water Treatment –Bromine and ozone are used to keep water clean.
- Setting – only press buttons to turn on the Jets and Lights (see instructions below)
- Jets – the bottom-left corner button turn jets on/off .
- Lights – Lights are turned on by pressing the upper-right button around the home screen 2 times. Turn off by pressing this button again.

Trouble Shooting – if the LED screen is not displaying, try cycling the power to the tub by switching the power switch in the gray box mounted on the side of the house. If this does not solve the problem, please contact the rental agency.
Please do not adjust other setting

- There is a game court above the driveway for soccer, volleyball, badminton, and ping pong. There is a plastic container that has the game supplies. Please tell the rental agency if items are broken or missing so they can be replaced.

Cooling System
- There is no AC. Except for the trees.
- Like most houses in Tahoe, this house relies on lower temperatures at night to stay cool. In addition to fans in each room, this house has a Whole House fan. This system works by pulling cooler air from outside into the house. Use this fan to cool the house when it is cooler outside (Note that the Fan will only cool the house to the outside temperature).
- Operating Instructions: the control is located at the top of the stairs. Top button: turns the fan on/off and provides timed operations for 1,2,4,..hours. You will see the light move through the options. Bottom button: changes the speed High/Low. High speed is intended to quickly cool the house, Low speed is for steady cooling.
- Open the door and window of the room that you want to cooled and a breeze will pass through the room. leaving the Dining Room window open will pull air through the whole house.
- Fans and humidifiers are in each room if needed – Humidifies will also cool air.
- Tip: Keep blinds down during day to keep room cool.
Lights
- Most inside lights are on dimmer switches.
- TIP: If the light does not go on, make sure the dimmer slider is far right.
- Outside front porch lights turn on/off automatically on a photo-eye.
